ACTS 1:5, 8
5. for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.
8. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit come upon you and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
Acts 2:1-4
1. When the day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
3. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.
4. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
What is the meaning of Pentecost?
BAPTISM
Mark 1
Jesus insisted that John baptize Him, because He knew the Holy Spirit would come upon Him and from that time He is led into ministry manifesting miracles signs and wonders.
Luke 24
We read that the risen Lord Jesus instructed the disciples
to wait in Jerusalem for the promise of the Father, the Holy Spirit.
So the ministry of the disciples depended on them also receiving the Holy Spirit and relying on His power to heal the sick.
While they had experienced a measure of the Spirit’s power before (John 20:22), when Jesus breathed on them,
now He would come to dwell IN them and ON them and permanently
they had to wait for the Lord to be glorified first
The Holy Spirit’s influence and power were at work before Pentecost,
But He was not there.
Once our Lord had been glorified in His ascension,
the Holy Spirit came into the world.
For generations people have been led to believe that the Holy Spirit is an “it”.
A “something” rather a “someone.”
People have been led to believe that the Spirit is a member of the Godhead who came at Pentecost and has been floating in the clouds ever since.
NO! NO! NO!
The Holy Spirit is God – equal in majesty, power, glory and eternity.
We pray
FATHER WE COME BEFORE YOU
IN THE NAME OF JESUS
and IN THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
They are 1.
You are a mother or father, a friend, an uncle or aunt, a cousin, all in one!
You are 1.
When God speaks to us, He speaks through the voice of the Holy Spirit
Our Father in heaven longs for fellowship with the Spirit who is in you.
The HS lives IN every born again believer,
but He does not rest upon every believer.
He’s in you by covenant.
He’s in you for me, to teach you about Jesus,
To convict me, to guide me and to encourage me
but He’s upon you for others
ears were healed recently
NO LAYING ON OF HANDS
We just closed our eyes and asked the Holy Spirit to minister to people
(John 7:38;)
38 Whoever believes in Me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”[a] 39 By this He meant the Spirit,
He’s like a river in me
He’s a river, He flows, He’s not a lake
He lives in me but He wants out!
The Holy Spirit empowers me
with His POWER flowing through me
to witness to all the world around me and to nations
To change the circumstances around us,
Jesus explained that they would “be baptized with the Holy Spirit
to be Christ’s “witnesses
Thus
The meaning of Pentecost is God’s equipping His church
with the power of His Spirit
so that He can be glorified in all the earth
The backbone of why we are on the planet is found in the Lord’s Prayer
May Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
We have an assignment to demonstrate
His goodness, His presence, His glory, His purposes
So that everyone can taste and see that the Lord is good.
We need to host His presence
We can pray out of principles, but great things will happen sovereignly when the Holy Spirit arrives
THE HOLY SPIRIT IS LIKE A DOVE SITTING ON OUR SHOULDER
WE ARE TO DO EVERYTHING WITH THE DOVE IN MIND
PETER’S SHADOW brought healing to people’s bodies because he hosted the PRESENCE.
How can a shadow heal anyone? There’s no substance to a shadow.
Peter and John walked by the gate Beautiful and said, Silver and gold have I none, but what I have I give to you, –
Peters shadow passing over ppl and they would be healed
God’s presence seen in prayer cloths laid on bodies or
Your shadow will always release whatever overshadows you.
As His presence rests upon you, the people around you will be impacted by his presence
You and I will always in our countenance
reflect the world we are most aware of.
If we live overcome by the difficulties of this world, we will project that.
If we live with our souls anchored in the reality of God’s presence, the reality of His promises,
you & I will always release that into the world around us.
it’s all about releasing the PRESENCE
When you become CONSCIOUS of hosting the PRESENCE of the Lord, it affects everything around you
You might think God can’t use you, the little ole me!
He can only use the Generals or specialists of the faith,
but God uses the specialist to empower us and we all get to play a part!
Jesus said in John 6, “My words to you are Spirit and they are life.”
Zechariah 4:6
Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD
We BROKER the PRESENCE of the Lord into this world.
We don’t give mere words to give information;
We actually speak words to release the Spirit.
At a conference where the Atmosphere was loaded with His presence
Matt 4:17
Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand
Repent means to change the way you think.
People used to think it meant to go and wale before the cross for your sins.
Repentance actually means to change the way you think.
Your changed thoughts then result in a change of action.
Our big problem with believing in the goodness of God and that He can heal us, is that we limit what He can do by what we think is probable and possible.
The Holy Spirit is here and is yearning to show you His goodness
