“God is Breaking Through and Your Time is NOW”
Robert Hotchkin, Maricopa, AZ
No matter what you have been through, no matter what you might currently be facing, no matter if your history is one of difficulty, delay, distraction, denial, or even destruction…no matter what – there is a word all of Heaven is currently reverberating with, a word the Lord wants you to grab hold of: “Now!”
This is a breaker time; a time when long-awaited promises and callings will come forth because God is declaring afresh that He is the Great I AM – always great and always present-tense. Anything we have ever had or experienced of Him is still ours. There is nothing we might be looking forward to from Him that is not actually ours already. In Him is everything that He is and all that He has done – right now!
God is not the Great I WAS (you haven’t missed it and your window of opportunity has not closed). He is not the Great I WILL BE (His promises are not for some far-off maybe or the eventual sweet by and by). He is the Great I AM. All that He is and all that He has given us in Christ is for you, and it is for now!
His Promises Are For NOW!

Salvation is for now! Healing is for now! Provision is for now! Favor is for now! Restoration of relationships is for now! Justice and recompense is for now! The transformation of nations is for now! Revival is for now! Wholeness, peace, joy, and freedom are all for now! Breakthrough is for now! Because God, the Great I AM, is and always will be, right now! (Photo via Flickr)
The complete, total, massive, always present-tense-ness of the “I AM” of God can be a difficult thing for us to get our heads around, especially if we have been through an extended season of challenges. At times it can feel like the report of our past, the difficulties of our present, or the fear for our future are screaming at us that God is not there, or that His promises are not for us.
The enemy will work overtime to point out every seemingly defeat or delay to get us to feel like our breakthrough is never coming, or is at best a slim possibility and a long time from now. The enemy wants us caught up in fear, frustration doubt and anxiety so that we choose to agree with “no” instead of “now.” But God wants to remind us that in Christ all of His promises are yes and amen… and now!

God Calls Us Out of Our Wilderness
In Exodus 3, Moses faced this very issue. He had to decide whether to believe His past and current circumstances, or trust in what the Great I AM had for him. Many years before, Moses had stepped out into his calling but it didn’t go well (Exodus 2:11-15). Instead of being received and respected as the deliverer of Israel, he was summarily rejected (Exodus 2:14) and had to flee for his life (Exodus 2:15).
From there he ended up wandering the wilderness tending to someone else’s flock (Exodus 3:1). The report of his past was that he was an unwanted failure. His current circumstances screamed that his best years were behind him, and when he ran Moses most likely thought he would never do anything of real impact or merit. This is when God showed up and declared Himself “I AM” (Exodus 3:14), reminding Moses that His gifts, callings and promises do not expire because He is always present and always great.

God let Moses know that He had seen and heard all that he and Israel had been through (Exodus 3:7-9), and that Moses was the deliverer of His people (Exodus 3:10). Nothing had changed. No past failures or current difficulties were greater than the truth, reality and power of who God is, what He had planned, and His ability to bring it forth in the now, no matter what. But Moses had to choose to believe this. He had questions – questions about himself (Exodus 3:11); questions about Israel (Exodus 3:13). The Lord’s answer to all of it was, “I AM” (Exodus 3:14). In other words, God was declaring that despite how things must have looked or felt, and regardless of how long they had been that way, Moses’ destiny was as present-tense as ever because I AM was as present-tense as ever.
Whatever you’ve been through and whatever you might currently be facing, this is your moment of breakthrough. Choose to agree with the eternal truth of the Great I AM. Let His present-tense greatness trump every fear, doubt and anxiety. Praise Him for all that He is, all that He’s done, and all that is yours in Him – right now!
Prayer Directives:
Let’s pray and agree that:
1. God is the Great I AM (Exodus 3:14).
2. His present-tense greatness is bigger than anything from our past or anything we are currently facing (Psalm 147:5, 2 Corinthians 2:14, Psalm 24:7-10, Haggai 2:9, Isaiah 43:18-19).
3. His thoughts toward us and His plans for us have not changed and they never will (Psalm 89:33-37, Job 23:13-14, Job 42:2, Numbers 23:19).
4. God is well able to bring about all that He has promised (Romans 4:20-21, 1 Thessalonians 5:24).
5. May we receive an infusion of grace and faith to believe, receive, and see made manifest the full greatness of I AM in our lives…now! (Ephesians 1:17-19, 1 Thessalonians 5:24, Hebrews 13:20-21). (To Subscribe to the Elijah List go here.)
